My daughter was on the Yearbook Staff in public high school and loved it. She was in her element when taking pictures, working on layouts, and attending school events. And receiving the yearbook is always a highlight. But I’ve been thinking about children that are homeschooled. Can they have a yearbook? I say yes and what a fun scrapbooking project that would be!
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!Creating a yearbook for homeschooled children is a great way to document their year of learning. But what would you include and how do you get started? Here are my suggestions:
1. Include artwork that was made throughout the year.
2. Include any creative writing, poems, letters, pictures of posters, essays, or other writing.
3. Of course, include all the photos. Make sure to document any trips you took for history or art, music, etc. Did they participate in sports or take music lessons? Were they in a play or another performance?
4. Memorabilia from field trips or other learning activities. This could be ticket stubs, stickers, dried flowers, or other ephemera.
5. If you belong to a homeschool co-op or other schooling group, parents can swap photos. Don’t forget to let them sign each other’s yearbooks.
As children get older, you can put them in charge of creating their own yearbooks. Letting them create their own allows them to learn how to plan and complete projects, save what was important to them from their activities, and save work that they were proud of.
