It’s time to begin shopping holiday gifts.  However, a heartfelt homemade gift is often considered more precious than a store-bought gift or gift card.  So, what kind of scrapbook would make a great Christmas/Hanukkah gift? Well, the sky’s the limit, as they say. And don’t get in a rut thinking that it must be photos of Christmases past (although that’s a good idea too). Think of Scrapbook Christmas/Hanukkah gifts as ways to conjure memories and gather family around the tree to reminisce about events, special occasions, holidays, and trips.

Recipe Scrapbook Christmas/Hanukkah gift

A couple of years ago, I created Scrapbooks of recipes from family members that were special and important to my children, i.e., grandmothers, mother, aunts, dads, and friends.  In some cases, I was able to reproduce recipes in the original handwriting. The embellishments were country kitchen themed, not holiday themed, but were prized gifts for, not only being handmade by their mother (me), but also because they held beloved recipes that I was passing on to them, that can then be passed to their children.  It was a fun and rewarding endeavor.

Memory Scrapbook gift

All scrapbooks are memory books. But some memory books can be specific pictures of the person to receive the scrapbook gift. These scrapbooks are a great gift idea for young children to learn about their family through stories.  Or for older family members and friends to help keep those special memories alive.

An idea for a Scrapbook Christmas/Hanukkah gift is to think of why the photos you chose to display in the scrapbook are a special memory to you.  Gather embellishments, theme-colored papers, memorabilia, and stickers that help enhance each memory.  Very important is to be sure to add journaling information of dates, names, places, feelings.  The Memory Scrapbook holiday gift will help them take a walk down memory lane with you and create new and special memories.

Christmas/Hanukkah Themed Scrapbook

Finding pictures of your adult children when they were small children full of holiday magic, opening gifts, and around the table for a special dinner, always brings a rush of memories and feelings. Why not use those photos for a themed Christmas/Hanukkah Scrapbook. Organize and lay out all the beautiful photos in stories that make sense to you.  Use Christmas themed paper for your background and stickers as embellishments. Add shimmering powder or glitter to make it shiny and festive. Write the story of each picture in contrasting colors around each page or photograph.

So, gather your photos, purchase or create a few scrapbook albums and get busy! Because, in a world of digital everything, there is something special and fun about a physical Christmas/Hanukkah Scrapbook to display.  And as always, it’s those personal touches and stories that make them so special!
